“How long does the battery last and how do we charge or replace it when it gives out?”

• Kwikset Model: 99250-802 batteries last from 6-8 months. The batteries may be change by removing the cover from the back of the unit and sliding the battery pack out from the top. The unit requires 4 "AA" batteries.

• This unit works with 4 AA batteries and based on the info from manufacturer, it should last a full year before requiring to be replaced, unless there are any installation defects to cause the deadbolt mechanism to use more force to lock or unlock (ie. The hole cut incorrectly or bent); in this case, the battery life would decrease.
