“can I plug this in to my mac pro and use without NTSF software? I don't want to have to upload NTSF software for this to work on my Mac Pro. Photoshop doesn't work as a scratch disc with NTSF software. So is this unit mainly for Windows / PCs?”

When you get the drive plugged in, use the Mac OS X Disk Utiliy, found in the Utilites folder, and partition the drive in a format that Photshop and your Mac support.
