The connected cable is the old Thunderbolt connection, but it comes with a USB-C to USB-C cable to connect. Works perfectly with my Macbook Pro with Thunderbolt 3 connector

However, the onboard integrated cable is not going to plug directly into your MacBook Pro without an adapter, assuming your MacBook Pro is like mine & requires adapters for ANYTHING other than USB-C.
