No, it is not a touch screen and is rather large for use in the limited space for some classes.

Check those programs for compatibility with Windows 10 Home 64-bit. What are the minimum/recommended hardware requirements to run the software you will be using to conduct your research and do your other work. Your school should be able to give you some guidelines.
