Hey Sheldon, I'm doing exactly the same thing, you can have SSDT and SSMS open together along with a couple of additional windows for text files, .pdfs, etc. Strongly recommend you upgrade your RAM to 8gb, but beyond that, this 1600x900 17 inch screen is awesome for the SQL development environment. Do this - work with this machine doing SQL for a few weeks, then upgrade your HDD to a 500gb solid state drive (just clone the original drive) and watch your queries and table updates just fly!
