Be sure to put the batteries included in both the mouse and keyboard. Inside the battery compartment of the mouse, there is a USB receiver. Take that out and plug it into a USB port on the device (anyone, it doesn't matter which USB port). Turn on the mouse and keyboard. You should be able to use the keyboard and mouse now.

Failing that, and assuming that you have access to another computer, the procedure can be found online. As I recall it wasn't very complicated. You didn't lose the USB dongle that came with your computer, did you? You'll of course need that for things to work.
