“I read all the questions and am confused does this have 2 DIMM spots - 1 being taken by 4gb of ram or does it only have one DIMM spot and the 4gb needs to be removed and replaced.”

• This system has one DIMM slot. It has the 4GB of RAM in it for this configuration. The maximum RAM this system can support is 16GB in the one slot.
