• Yes I believe this laptop would be very kid friendly. Nice and lightweight so would be great in a backpack. Also very nice laptop for the price range.

• It will depend on what work the student will be doing and the programs that will be needed. This is a mid-level configuration with its Intel Pentium processor and 4GB of RAM. It is good for Microsoft Office type programs, browsing the internet. If this describes the type of work your student will be doing, then this will be a good choice.
