From the Lenovo Service manual, it has one DIMM slot for a DDR3L laptop style chip. The "L" means 1.35V RAM. The Crucial website says that this can go up to an 8 gig chip max. To get at the RAM, it's a total of 14 screws, involving two screws to pull the keyboard, three underneath the keyboard, then nine to remove the entire base plate of the laptop. While you're in there, Lenovo shows that a 7mm SATA hard drive will fit in there, so you can upgrade the internal drive to something a bit more roomy, either spinning disc or SSD.

This model of Lenovo Ideapad 100s is not much different from Lenovo Chromebook 100s. RAM (2GB) and permanent memory (64GB) are soldered on the system board. Therefore, unless you replace the system board, you can't upgrade RAM or permanent data storage (eMMC). Also, there is no space in the system for an additional SSD. You just can't add SSD unless you connect one externally to USB. The best option is to add a MicroSD card. You won't need to open it for that. It is not very hard to open it. There are about 12 screws at the bottom. Be careful, two at the front bottom are smaller than the remaining 10. Once you have removed those screws, carefully use a small plastic pry tool to separate the upper keyboard from the bottom plate and that is it. The performance of the system is adequate for Office productivity applications, web browsing, video watching, etc. but not for large scale data crunching.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You'll actually have a hard time finding info about this particular model. Lenovo's website doesn't even recognize that it exists as of 11/20/2015, nor does Crucial. It's currently ONLY sold in Best Buy stores, nowhere else not even through Lenovo, so that's part of the problem. I plan on buying one soon so I'll be able to verify if the RAM is soldered in or not, but I'm betting that there will be no upgrades possible with this model. If I remember I'll post an update here.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No, the memory chip is soldered
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Cloudbooks are not designed for IT pros to improve the hardware such as RAM or SSD so it's highly likely that the RAM and SSD is soldered onto the board. You might be able to expand virtual memory via the OS and using some of the 64GB drive space.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.expanded memory is via Cloud or usb or portable HD. Cloud is best
