Yes, it has enough for school work.

I use it for graduate school and it is definitely enough storage.

2 GB is too little, should be a minimum of 4-8 at the very least. If you go that low the computer will use your hd as virtual memory and slow down a bunch.

This depends on the type of school work you will be doing. Ask your school for a minimum/recommended requirement for a computer system to do the work they will provide to you.
