You might consider getting a student both this unit for word processing, and a Samsung Chromebook 3 which Best Buy also sells, which is fantastic for websurfing. I have both and they fit snugly together in my nylon bag made for one 11.6" notebook. Nice to have both in case one is down or charging! If you shop hard can get them for maybe $250 total for both all in, or even less.

It is good for Microsoft Office type work, browsing/research on the internet. If this is the type of work the student will be doing, this system will be a good choice.
