You are correct, there is a 1TB SSD in an M.2 slot and space for a second slim hard drive. The connector cable for the second hard drive is included in the box.

You are correct, mine had the m2 SSD and a drive holder for a standard laptop 2.5 SATA drive With a plastic dummy drive. I added a 2tb hDD as the history and storage drive and partitioned the 1tb to keep the system drive separate from the data

The Lenovo Legion Y540-17 Gaming Laptop, model number 81Q4008EUS, has a 1TB M.2 NVMe solid state hard drive. There is an additional 2.5-inch SATA slot for a mechanical hard drive.
