Yes, it is a hardware problem that drivers will not correct. I don't know if they'll cover it under warranty and just returned it before the 2 week period ended to best buy (they're really great within the 2 weeks for hassle free returns). I went through 2 of these that had that issue. Some of them don't have light bleed, so yes, it's a problem, and a common one.
