Hey, rms. By default, when you close your laptop, it goes into sleep mode to conserve power but enable quicker access to use your Yoga. If you wish for it to turn off, its best to shut down the computer then close the lid.

Please try again later.The Lenovo reply is correct, as far as it goes, but (1) It failed to mention that the flashing light is an indicator that the machine is asleep, and (2) It did not note that you can change what closing the lid does. If you click on the battery indicator (far right of the Taskbar), you can access advanced controls for power, as well as controlling what closing the lid does.
