Yes, it is brand new and not yet opened.

Ours (bought at Christmas 2016) was brand new, not opened, obviously still in Lenovo packaging. Easy to open, plug in, start up and then less easy to deal with the 'set up' and sign-in issues with a new computer & new Windows 10 setup... but that type of pain is consistent with any new computer. Enjoy!
