Yes you can extend up to 36 plants (6 tiers). We bought a double extension after having the 12 plant for 2 months

Please try again later.This is not a good choice - this system will require cleaning as the chemicals build up and it is not natural growth media/chemicals with potential effects from the plastic container itself - no matter what they are selling as hype - this is not the best system out there - you can easily set up a system and use organic media and do this the right way - be wise ! This is not a good design at all - Buyer beware of eventual buyer regret!
