There are two ways you can use defrost -- "Quick Defrost" that uses a sensor to monitor what you have put in, or "Auto Defrost" that has 3 options you can choose from -- (1) Groud Meat, (2) Poultry or (3) Steaks/Chops. It does not allow you to put in a weight for what you are defrosting, the sensor determines the time needed based on the density level of the setting you choose. It seems to work pretty well.
