“can this microwave be placed on a countertop?”

• This is meant for mounting on a wall and from an overhead cabinet. It has no feet so the door would drag if it was placed directly on a countertop,

• The bottom of the microwave is not flat, it would not sit evenly. It might be used temporarily this way though.
