• You should be able to use it on your 40 TV as long as you have and optical Port on your TV the LG sound bar uses an optical line, make sure your TV has Optical in also HDMI inputs I hope this information helps.

• I am an 82 year old widow without a lot of technical knowledge. My audiologist suggested that I might benefit by having the soundbar hooked up to my TV (36" Vizio manufactured around 2011). I made the purchase and with the help of the LG sound bar phone customer service I completed the hook-up. The soundbar works very well for me. I do not require hearing aids but some higher pitched sounds are not as clear as when my ears were younger.
