Optical cables are very delicate it is rec to use ANY other iput cable for great quality sound

The Optical Digital Audio Input on the LG - 2.1-Channel 300W Soundbar System with Wireless Subwoofer - Black, Model # SK4D is the same Optical Digital Audio port that is used on any device that features such a port. The Optical cable (aka Toslink cable) is the same cable for any device that has an Optical Digital Audio port. The crackling may be due to an optical cable that is not fitting securely and firmly in the optical digital audio input on the Soundbar or at the other end in the optical digital audio output that you have connected to the Soundbar...^IFV
