“Can this microwave also be used in an island as well or is it only over the range?”

It is meant to be mounted against a wall and requires adequate support from upper cabinets. Installation in an island or peninsula cabinet is not recommended. • The major design of this microwave IS over the range. There is a cheaper model that would better fit your needs.
