The old model was a 2 speed fan, this one is a 4 speed fan. Also has 4 filtered intake ports vs the older one had 2, with the rearward 2 angling down upon extension of the hood. The 2 slower speeds are much quieter than the old one, as they are much slower, but with the angling of the rear intakes, and the addition of 2, the suction is much better. Also just an FYI, the old one had 2 halogen lights, this one has one superbrite LED, which I think gives off more light.
