• Both models feature Wi-Fi connectivity and support the LG SmartThinQ Application. Both dishwashers supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks only. To check your network frequency, contact your Internet service provider or refer to your wireless router manual. ^Daphane

• I'm not sure about the other model but the wifi on mine simply allows it to connect to the internet. It's through the app where all the functionality is. I'm assuming the functions are similar across most models. My LG washing machine does the same thing, it connects to the same app.
