The 36 inch opening is snug as the fridge is 35 7/8” wide. However, if the unit does not stand out at least 4” on either side of your cabinets the bottom drawers cannot be opened. Otherwise, going on five weeks and find this to be an exceptional value. Only other dislike is the drawers have no “handle” and you have to reach under them to open. It allowed them to make the drawers have more capacity but kind of a pain in the butt. That could/should have molded them with recessed pullouts.
