A:Answer Sadly, our Model# LFXS28596S is NOT cooling properly in the 'Door in Door' (D-in-D) compartment. Ours was delivered on 31 Aug, and 3~4 hours after plugging the unit in, all the compartments were at or near their target temps, except for the D-in-D compartment, where we had planned to store our milk and creamers and maybe a few yogurts, etc etc, which was and still is (after 3 days) averaging in the 'danger zone'—according to grocery stores and health dept's, etc—of 42 degrees to 46 degrees. As I've read, and been told by a few grocery professionals, that anything over 40~41 degrees is potentially dangerous and can be harmful to one's health, I guess due to possibly harmful bacteria etc.
Alas, after monitoring our D-in-D temps for 3 days.....they don't look acceptable or that they're going to ever get any lower than 42 to 46 degrees. Therefore we're probably going to try one exchange, for the exact same model, and then if the 2nd model# 28596 also has inadequate D-in-D cooling we're going to have to try an LG model without the 'InstaView' glass window panel, or another brand/model altogether. All of which will be a considerable hassle as it we had a very tight access squeeze around an oddly positioned/built cased opn'g & brkfst nook fireplace mantel.
Other than the inadequate cooling in the D-in-D compartment..... we really like the LG model# 28596, as the InstaView glass is a very cool (looking) feature, which is kinda fun to 'Knock-Knock' on and peek through to the inside.
