“Is this monitor compatible with an HP laptop. I use it for work. Currently using dual monitors. Need for multiple applications open at same time. So also does it work for that too? And any application downloads are they included at no additional cost ?”

If the laptop has an HDMI port, then it should work with it. The monitor only has HDMI inputs. There is LG software (free) you can download to use the monitor as a multi-monitor replacement, dividing the screen into multiple segments which you can drag app windows into and use as if it were multiple individual monitors. You can have 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, or 8 screens on the monitor. There's also a Picture in Picture mode.
