• The sound bar comes with it's own optical cable. The sub woofer is what connects via blue tooth to the sound bar.

• The Soundbar should be connected via optical cable for the best sound quality. The subwoofer pairs to the Soundbar wirelessly. ^Daphane

• In my experience, the sound was based more on the app and device being used to produce the sound than the connection type. BT and HDMI were similar, but optical seemed a bit lower output consistently.
