A:AnswerMy daughter is 5'3" an it is difficult for her to reach into washer to remove all the items without stretching and on her tip toes. She nearly falls into the washer. She needs to use a step stool.
A:AnswerHello Sudsysue,
Thank you for your question, that is a great question and extremely important one at that! The LG - 4.7 Cu. Ft. 8-Cycle Ultra-Large-Capacity High-Efficiency Top-Loading Washer, Model # WT4970CW, like all the other LG High-Efficiency models, comes with a caution not to wash or spin any item known to be waterproof or water-resistant even if the product care label on the item permits machine washing. In the owner's manual, it goes on to say that "failure to follow these instructions could result in bodily harm, severe damage to your laundry, your washer and/or property damage as a result of abnormal vibration of the washer."
The reason for this being that all the High-Efficiency (HE) top-load washers use a lot less water and spin much faster than regular top-load washers so that they can extract more water from the laundry thereby reducing drying time. That is how they earned their name as High- Efficiency washers and it saves you more money!
Waterproof and water-resistant clothes can resist the chances of unbalancing loads which leads to excessive vibrating, shaking and damage by the machine.
Even though the sales associate pointed to another manufacturer's model that didn't have the label, she may have been pointing to a model that was not a High-Efficiency model, but you should know that that same company also has the same warning on their models!
The answer for the warning may also vary according to the different manufacturers. Dave VanderWaal, director of LG's home appliance marketing, suggested that if you choose to wash water-resistant fabrics, then select a low spin mode, but also cautioned that even that does not guarantee a completely balanced load throughout the wash cycle and that doing it does not void the warranty.
Most of the other manufacturers that do not have the label and say it's okay to wash waterproof and water-resistant also stress the importance of using a low spin cycle. So that is what is behind that warning label! Thanks for asking the question and I hope the answer helped!...IFV
A:AnswerMy water bill dropped by 20.00 the first month. Savings on laundry products has also resulted in 10.00 savings and my electric bill dropped 10.00. For us, the HE was well worth it.
A:AnswerYes. I wondered the same thing and have used it in my washer. Since I use liquid detergent in the dispenser, I start the cycle and once the Wash indicator light is on, I press the "Pause" button, open the lid once it unlocks and add my Oxi Clean at that point. Oxi Clean also has the HE symbol on the container, so it's definitely safe to use. Hope this helps.
