QuestionI am hesitant to buy a front loader because of problems people have with mildew/mold. I had one once and would dry the seals on the door after every wash but this is a hassle. Does this washer have any technology or design to counter this problem?

- Answer No, the washer does not have technology to counter act this effect. It is recommended to clean the gasket and door seal regularly and check under the door seal for small items when unloading the washer as well as cleaning the drainage pump filter regularly. ^Daphane

- Answer To ensure sufficient clearance for water inlet hoses, drain hose and airflow, allow minimum clearances of at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) at the sides and 4 inches (10 cm) behind the washer. The matching dryer is DLG3401W/DLE3400W has been tested for clearances of 1 inch (2.5 cm) on the sides and rear. Recommended clearances should be considered for the following reasons: • Additional clearances should be considered for ease of installation and servicing. • Additional clearances should be considered on all sides of the dryer to reduce noise transfer. For closet installation, with a door, minimum ventilation openings in the top and bottom of the door are required. Louvered doors with equivalent ventilation openings are acceptable. ^Daphane

- Answer We have had the model for a month (28 uses) and have not had to drain it. The Owner's Manual does not require draining, unless you are cleaning the drain filter, which is only required when the washer fails to drain (we will probably do it every other month as part of regular maintenance).
