Model OLED48A1PUA will support DirecTV satellite services. There is also a DIRECTV Ready app in the LG Content Store (App Store). This TV has 6.0 webOS platform. Our webOS platform offers over 600 apps including streaming content and games - including over 180 free streaming channels via the LG Channels (on select models). Yes, the DirectTV box can connect via HDMI. Almost all TVs have HDMI now. There are a few versions of HDMI but most are using the basic HDMI version and compatibility shouldn't be an issue.
