- Answer Yes, you dial the program, press the "go" button, and it'll go into "AI-artificial intelligence" mode and slowly spin 3x one way, and 3x the other way and "there's the weight!" Of course it will not say Lbs, but it'll carefully control the amount of detergent (which it takes from the detergent tank) which is tied to this weight. Never over-suds, never under-dirt particles.

- Answer Yes, about $30. Let the Geek Squad bring it and install it. The copper steamer attachment to your tap will make it "a steam cleaner". Beautiful results guaranteed. They install, you have the benefits. Guaranteed proper and efficient installation.

QuestionDoes these washer dryer need pedestal or it is optional

- Answer The pedestals are totally optional. We chose to buy them just to save back discomfort from leaning over to move laundry around. Our laundry is on the second floor, so the washer is in a catch pan that might prevent washer leaks from getting into the living space below. Note that the catch pan means that we can't open the drawer on the washer pedestal. Also, I don't think that our detergent containers will fit in the pedestal drawer, too tall. The drawer is a good place to stuff the machine user guides, and maybe a box of dryer sheets.

QuestionIs the top of this washer & matching dryer metal or plastic? I was going to order a magnetic laundry guard to place on the top of the machines to keep laundry from falling off the back & sides, but it won't be useful unless the top is metal.

QuestionWe are installing the washer a long run from the water heater. For the first wash load of the day, the first 2 gallons from the hot water tap might actually be cold, until the line warms up. Does the washer adjust the temperature or not? Thanks!

- Answer The WM4500HBA does have an internal water heater to heat the water when using the extra hot water temp or the steam wash setting. The manual covers this on page 29. Note, it does not appear the washer will increase the temp for warm or hot water wash cycles. Instead LG assumes you have your hot water heater set at 120-135F.

Questiondoes this machine dry out between cycles? I have read comments on smell from water in the tub after wash

- Answer I suggest leaving the door cracked for a few hours to help the inside air dry. You should not have any water remaining in the tub after a completed wash cycle. If you do, your machine is not draining properly and this is typically due to either a pinched drain hose, or the height of the drain pipe being too high or low. Check the manual. It's also a good idea to use a rag and wipe inside the rubber boot creases every month or so to remove build up that may be left behind by some extra dirty clothes or detergents. Remember to only use HE detergent and never overfill the detergent container.

QuestionIf there is a 4.5 in wall on the end and 37 in depth. Will the door be able to open and the detergent dispenser be able to pull out completely?

- Answer The total depth of the unit with the door opened 90 degrees and allowing 4" of space behind the unit is 57.25" (with the door having a depth of 20"). QuestionHas anyone measured the "real" depth when door is open? On the spec it states to be 53.25 inch. With the depth 33.25 inch when door is closed that means the door is only 20 inch wide. That doesn't make sense by looking at the picture.

Ft. 14-Cycle High-Efficiency Front-Load Washer with Steam, TurboWash™ 360°, and Built-In Intelligence - Black Steel, Model # WM4500HBA are designed for specific types of wash loads. When a cycle is selected, the default time for that cycle is displayed. This time will change as modifiers or options are selected. If the display shows ---, then the time will be displayed after the load sensing has detected the load size. The time shown is only an estimate. This time is based on normal operating conditions. Several external factors (load size, room temperature, incoming water temperature, etc.) can affect the actual time. Once the Start/Pause button is pressed, the washer will measure the size of the load. The estimated time may change once the load size has been measured. The Turbo Wash™ option is automatically included in the Normal and Heavy Duty cycle and cannot be deselected.
