Hi Mia, I have this machine on the second floor. My home was built in 2001 and I do not have a pan underneath. I am not sure if you have one, but, the sales agent did say that a plastic pan would not work under these machines as they will crack.... Sorry cannot be of much help other than share what he had told me when I was buying mine.

Home builders will make sure the supports under the laundry room floor are strong enough to handle the weight and vibration of a washer and dryer. Some people move their washer and dryer upstairs from their basement or main floor. Floor supports on the upper floors of a lot of homes are smaller than the main floor. Then they install their washer and dryer and wonder why their upper floors vibrate.
