“Can the GX be mounted to a table top universal stand? I want it to sit on top of a table that is less than 46 inches wide where as the legs are 46 inches apart”

Yes, you can mount this TV to any VESA 300 x 300 stand. Honestly, though, why would you want to do that? The only reason to spend the extra $$ on this TV is to take advantage of the incredibly thin (1") wall mount effect. If you are simply going to put the TV on top of a table, save your money and go with the CX. The picture is just as good.
