The LG C8PUA 4K HDR Smart OLED TV w/ AI ThinQ® - 55" Class (54.6" Diag), Model # OLED55C8PUA has a native resolution of 3840 x 21`60 and all TVs regardless of their native resolution will always play video content at their native resolution or as close to it as they can get the signal to. TV and cable broadcasts are either at 720p or 1080i and when presented with these lower resolutions, the built-in 4K Upscaler in the TV will upconvert those signals to its native resolution or as close as it can get the signal depending on how much data is in the signal. This can add perceived detail of the image but how far you are sitting from the screen will make a difference to whether or not you see the detail...^IFV
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The TV does upscale the image. We see a noticeable improvement over our previous LED TV. The OLED's can display so much more detail due to the high contrast. Dark and night scenes are incredible. Games of Thrones is awesome watching it directly from HBO on cable.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I've had my new C8 for a few weeks now. ABSOLUTELY WORTH THE $$ The picture is awesome, and I truly DO NOT need a soundbar. I picked this model because of the additional 40W speakers/woofers. Although I will admit I'm not a big "blast the sound" person. I invited some neighbors to come look at it, and I had in a Planet Earth II 4k disc. One admitted after seeing it, "I was thinking.. what's the big deal.. a tv is a tv.." then .. " OMG … now I see why you're so excited.. it's amazing!" Even if your cable company has 4K, still very little programming is 4k. Even regular DVD's played on my new BlueRay player have so much more color and depth. Even black and white videos. Netflix and Amazon Prime video have more and more 4k programming.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. To me it is! The technology on managing all the different features and uses has been simplified. It even has a button for Netflix all its own. You can also manage with voice commands.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. If you are worried about the price, for any reason forget it. Personally I fing the picture worth it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Great picture. Non HD channels are not the best. You will have to watch your local stations in its HD channels. Has so many nice features. But nothing is worth paying more than you set aside for it. I waited and got mine a few days before Superbowl and have not seen it for less. I also decided on a 55" for it was way less. But it looks great. Was told another good time to buy is right before and during the time the 2019s come out in March or April though your choices might be limited. Good Luck.
