Thank you for your inquiry. The LG - 65" Class (64.5" Diag.) - LED - 2160p - Smart - 3D - 4K Ultra HD TV - , Model # 65UF8500 automatically upscales. It has a native resolution of 2160p and it will always upscale content to its native resolution. This is what the 1080p and 720p TVs did as well. If the resolution you're upscaling from, is extremely low, your picture will not look good at all, the TV would have too much to make up for that gap. The closer to the native resolution your content is, the easier it is to upscale to the native resolution and have the picture look good. To present lower-resolution material on a 4k TV, the TV has to perform upscaling. This process increases the pixel count of a lower-resolution image, allowing a picture meant for a screen with fewer pixels to fit a screen with many more. It’s important to remember that since the amount of information in the signal doesn’t change, there won’t be more detail present...^IFV
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have not had to upscale. I have never seen a picture this clear or HD so sharp. Perhaps you connection is poor?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I connected my cable box to this TV with the HDMI and both HD and SD programming are much better than on my high end 1080p TV.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Not every cable company is compatible. I have Direct TV and the picture looks great because DTV is actually one of the 1st cable providers who accommodate the 4K picture quality. Also, it could be that your HDMI cable is not compatible w. 1080p or 4k. There are specific HDMI cables you can find at Best Buy. There is not a lot at this time that is available in 4K, but I know that there will be very soon. Netflix already had certain 4K programs avail. And so does DirectT.V.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. In my own experience, setting TruMotion to Smooth makes low res video look much better.
