Does this TV have HDR? , "YES". Does this TV support HDR?, "NO". I have done a lot of research into HDR to get ready for Playstation Pro and XBOX ONE S and I can tell you this TV isn't what you are looking for. This TV is 8bit. For a TV to truly be HDR compliant it needs to be a 10bit panel. HDR option is just software so this TV has the software and you can turn it on, bit you aren't going to get any kind of HDR picture without the 10bit panel that supports the wide color gamut. So don't expect anything you couldn't do by messing with the normal settings.if it says HDR PRO (LG) or HDR PREMIUM (SAMSUNG) its not true HDR. It only has the software for it not the hardware so pretty useless. But they add it on the name and box to get sales. Best TV with amazing picture and True HDR on a budget is the Sony x900c. $1299 for 65 inch with true HDR and much better everything. Only issue is you may get some light bleeding but for the price it's a steal.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It isn't a simple answer. Yes it does require 10 bits per color channel but HDR has been done just fine with 8 bits per pixel by merging three images and tone mapping. I've done HDR tone mapping with a single image and it only took a minor tweaking to the shadows. So, when people think of HDR like in the PS4 Pro or Cbox One S, they're talking about a real hardware output with lower compression. With a 1080P TV they didn't have 4 sub pixels for every pixel like they do with 4K so that also helps to minimize the need for true hardware HDR. Still, this is not same as the new technology. However, you can apply this HDR even to older films and still see a benefit.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Actually after researching this, turns out it can do HDR10. So yes it supports a 10 bit gradient and 1000 nits of peak brightness so the HDR10 / HDR1000 spec is achieved by this TV, but the HDR12 or Dolby Vision HDR cannot be achieved by this display as it cannot display a 12 bit gradient or 4000 nits of peak brightness.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes it hads HDR!! It clearly says on the box!! Make sure to purchase a 4K hdmi cable to connect to your 4K DVD player or any upscale blu ray player to experience it!! It also shows HDR well on my PS4!!! Awesome!!
