“According to LG's web site this model number has a recommended selling price of $1,699 and it has a refresh rate of 120Hz. Which description is correct?”

Both are correct. Motion rate 240. Consider half that for refresh rate.

Its equivalent to a 240hz because it looks as fast as my 240hz 2009 LG trumotion. And i purchased mine for 1600 at BB

It's on sale right now for $1699.00. LG uses a term "TruMotion" to describe their refresh rate. For this model, it's 240Hz.
