You cant play music from a usb unless you are recording it from one usb to another on the the unit. It takes 2 usb cables. With me I cant plug in a regular usb from my notebook or ipad and play it through the unit like i wanted too. I can with my other Sharp system but not this one. You have to have a special usb for this unit that transfers from one to the other[usb] to record it. Hope this helps. ps Not sure about the folders. Not familair with it. sorry I think it may support WMA but not positive.
