The port in the front on the left side on the LG - 700W Mini Shelf System, Model # CM4550 that you are referring to is not an output port that you can plug headphones into. That is the Port In, (described on page 17 of your owner's manual), that you can connect a mini stereo (3.5 mm (TRS) - sometimes referred to as 1/8") cable from the headphone output on your phone or portable device to play audio from the device through the speakers of the CM4550. It's the same size as your headphone plug which is why it fits, but it does not output sound, it's an input. There is no way to connect headphones to this unit...^IFV
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes! Buy a digital output converter box with a headphone jack. Plug the stereo into the converter and then plug your headphones into the headphone jack on the converter. Good to go! This was an accidental discovery when we needed this box to connect the stereo to our LG TV, which happens to be too old to have Bluetooth connection but new enough to have the digital audio output on it.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's for input only. You would need a male to male 3.5 mm cable. Than you would connect one end to the stereo and tha other into your headphone jack on your phone,iPad,iPod,etc.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The port on the front is a port-in . Anytime it says "in" means to put the sound from another device into the stereo. Another words to use a mp3 player that don't have Bluetooth capablies you could get a 3.5 mm aux cable to use to connect into the front "port in" connection it. If it was to plug up headphones, it would say "audio out" or headphone out. Why you would want to hook up headphones to a stereo in the first place is dumb. It's a stereo ! Using headphones defeats the purpose of having a stereo. If you don't understand what any of this means then you don't deserve to have a stereo. First you have to understand them. Always remember. Anytime you see the word "in" it means audio going into the stereo. When it says "out" that means audio going out of the stereo.
