“With the LG DLGX8101V gas dryer, do you need the steam dryer water hose hookup for water connection? I don't see a hookup for a water line on the back panel. Someone recommended the Steam Dryer Installation Kit that comes with hoses and y-connector.”

There isn't a water line. At the front of the machine there is a water tray you fill. I love my dryer! I've had it for about a month. I hope that helps.

No, as far as I understand it only uses the water reservoir in the slide out compartment in the front.
