“Is this a table only projector or can it be hung near the ceiling and project down with the picture still square? My current projector is almost 2 feet different in size from bottom to top when at ceiling height placement”

Please try again later.You can place it anywhere and get great picture, you just have to know your optimal viewing specs for your area, it throws a 55" image from roughly 5.5 feet. You can determine the throw distance for the screen size you want with the Projection Calculator. If you need to tilt the PH550 to match the screen height, you can correct the vertical keystone distortion, There is no horizontal keystone correction.
