“What is an HE Washer and does it require a different soap?”

• YES you must use HE soap, evidently. This was a big issue with a Bosch machine I had. Non HE soap clogged it all the time. Don't know if it's the same with this unit, which is 1000x better than the Bosch, but I would.

• HE is high efficiency. HE soap has to be used in the washer. All liquid soaps say whether they're HE on the container.

• This is a High Efficiency washer that uses soap that is labeled for HE due to it using less water.
