Should just connect through the USB port. I have used this type, but a little older and they always were USB.

It uses a traditional USB port. It has worked on a toshiba laptop, a Samsung laptop, a Mac laptop as well as a toshiba desktop. I though the USB 2.0 vs 3.0 was only related to transfer speed, not the size of the port itself. It works on a 2.0 speed but would be faster with the 3.0

Yes uses regular usb should plug and play. Does not need any set up.
