Q: QuestionWhat does the overview mean “when used with a compatible dimmer”? I’ve never seen a smart bulb or any dimmable RGB bulb that can be dimmed externally.
Asked by DonP.
- A:Answer I bought 2 of these & have them setup outside under my garage awning. Both are connected to a standard on/off wall switch. I assume the "compatible dimmer" might be the dimming function in the Apple HomeKit app. In my setup, my on/off wall switch is always on... I control the lights through the Apple HomeKit app. They work great! I am able to adjust the dimmer with no issues. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionDo these remember their settings if I placed them in a standard security light fixture? My fixture turns the power to the bulb on when approached, and leaves it on for 10 minutes, and then turns the power off if it does not see movement.
Asked by John.
- A:Answer if your security fixture 100% cuts off power to the bulb, yes, it'll be fine. You'll need to go thru the setup in an fixture that can be on the entire time, then move it over. It will remember the color and brightness setting that it had when it lost power. However, some motion and photocell sensor fixtures dont completely cut power to the bulb, they just drop it way lower then an incandescent fixture would normally need, and that reduced power output will not only still light up a LED bulb a tiny bit, it will also damage the electronics. Buy a cheap LED bulb and put it in the fixture and see if it has any light at all when the sensor turns it off. If the fixture is recent, it should be fine.
