The vehicle key should not be in the on position until after the JumpSmart has been connected. When jump starting a vehicle, you will turn the JumpSmart on, connect the Jumper Cables to both the JumpSmart and the vehicles battery terminals, THEN start the vehicle. The vehicle key should not be in the on position until after the JumpSmart has been connected.
