- Answer Hi Steve; I just replaced an old router with an EA6900 and it installed smoothly in a matter of minutes. Simply plug it into your cable modem and wait for it to download it's own update. Once complete, you log onto router by entering a static IP address and simply fill in the questions. I'm certain you'll be online admiring the capabilities of your new router within minutes.

QuestionWhat modem and router is the best you can buy?We have cable internet. They installed, so to speak. A combo modem/router- Arris DG860. The combo unit is on one end of the house in a small office. My son and daughter are at the opposite end of the house, at least 75-80 feet away. The wifi signal is terrible in their area. She has a Roku Stick, and it can't be used. He has a PS4, that will not let him play anything online. Even their iPhones have terrible wifi connection. I'd like separate devise that are superb in technology and functionality. I'm also still considering a wifi extender. I want info on a (power line) device for my son's room and PS4.

- Answer I considered other more expensive routers before buying the Linksys router. I have installed and configured this Linksys router in my 4500sq ft home. We have (3) smart TVs using WiFi, (5) WiFi Sonos devices, (1) Xbox with WiFi, (2) apple TVs with WiFi, (3) chomecast devices with WiFi, (3) ipads with WiFi, and (3) cell phones with WiFi in addition to hard wired computers. The speed is good and we don't have any problem with signal strength. I hope this helps you with you decision.

QuestionHow does it perform with charter cable internet?I have had many routers and not all work very well with charter cable internet... Dropping connection every few seconds.. How does this hold up with charters service ?

- Answer I just switched to Charter Cable 2 months ago. I had never been wireless, call me old fashion but I have been very pleased with this unit. I live in a 3 story home, unit on top floor, my tablet and roko work great on the 1st floor like sitting next to it. I did try one other but this one does a lot better. Hope this is a help. Try it, not satisfied Best Buy will exchange or refund, that's what I did. Good Luck

- Answer Hi, VideoGamer. This router uses a Gigabit Port (10/100/1000 port), and it's only a passthrough device from your ISP's modem. However, the upload and the download will still depend on how many devices connected to the network (wired and wireless). The Ethernet cable and the LAN adapter installed on your PC will also affect the upload speed, since it's the rate that data is transferred from the user's computer to the Internet.

Aside from having faster data rates than EA4500, it has 2 USB ports; 1 USB 2.0 and 1 USB 3.0 (Storage Link, Virtual Printing, and DLNA Media Server). It also supports iPv6 and uses Smart Setup.
