Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi. No, you don't have to use a Linksys router. I have a dual-band one but the computer tech who helped me said it didn't need to be a Linksys. I was almost able to set up the extender myself but must have missed a step or made a mistake somewhere along the line. So I had to use professional help because I am computer-literate but I am not a geek. But when it's set up correctly, you will have another WiFi name of ***._ext. The extender is working great.
