No is a Repeater so you do not have to run wires just setup and link it to your existing wireless network and off you go easy setup and excellent signal.

It will function as a wireless repeater/extender of your existing network just by plugging it into an AC outlet which is somewhere in range of your existing WIFI. Should work for any 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz devices that can connect to your normal wifi This unit is nice in that it DOES have an option to run it as a wireless access point if you decide to run a wire/ethernet cable, but thats not a requirement.
