Hello, yes you can send and receive texts messages on the Jitterbug Flip.

Yes, it does have the option of using text messaging.

Yes, but it is the old method where you press the key until the letter you want appears on the screen, then find the next letter and press that key until the letter you want appears, etc. Also, if your plan does not include texts, there is a small charge for each text. Very affordable though.
