• When we got new phone cases, we would pry off the old metal pieces and just glue them onto the new case. We just kept doing this and I'm currently on case #3.

• No, You don't, the magnet is the holder on the dash. What you need are extra metal plates to attach to the phone or case. You can find them online or at Amazon. Good luck and enjoy your new phone.
